brendan NolanAs a freelance journalist of some 25 years experience, with publication in most nationals and many magazines in both Ireland and Britain, most of Brendan's writing has been about running a business and marketing.

His work as a journalist concentrated on business issues. Brendan was a featured speaker at the 2005 Sean Dunne Festival in Waterford on websites for the self-employed writer.

He delivers full-day training presentations to local enterprises, SMEs and as part of staff training for larger corporations.

Brendan has delivered training courses to arts and business audiences in Sligo, Waterford, Limerick, Clonmel, Leitrim, Kildare, Fingal, Dublin, Derbyshire and elsewhere.

Brendan was twice adjudged Transport Journalist of the Year runner-up by the Chartered Institute of Transport in Ireland for his business reports on the haulage and logistics industry in Commercial Motor Ireland, an RBI publication.

For several years, he wrote multi-page special reports for the Sunday Business Post on featured industries

His speaking skills at Competent Communicator level are brought to play in encouraging attendees to participate.

Brendan won the inaugural Toastmasters International Area 16 Tall Tales competition against some 16 speakers from four public speaking clubs with a speech he wrote and delivered himself.

His website for writers www.askaboutwriting.net was included in the Writers Digest 101 best websites for writers and attracts more than 4,000 visits a week.

Brendan is a monthly columnist for the UK-published Writing Magazine on the business of writing.

Brendan is the author of Phoenix Park a History and Guidebook (Liffey Press) 2005 and the Irish Companion published by Robson Books (London) 2006.

His book on Phoenix Park has sold all over the world and was nominated for the inaugural Glen Dimplex Awards in 2006.

All of which required practical marketing, writing and speaking skills.
