However, experience of self-employment is not a pre-requisite of attendance.

New business opportunities are discussed and attendees are encouraged to take a wider view of an original concept to see where it might lead.

The course is informal and informative; the better to stimulate ideas that can be considered by the attendees for further development.

Objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Review their original idea and evaluate its prospects
• Know how to research any potential market share
• Benchmark the proposal against the existing market
• Assess future market opportunity or peril to the idea
• Understand how to maximise return on effort and investment
• Effectively and profitably identify the needs of potential clients
• Decide on whether or which business training would assist the proposer
• Know the essentials of sourcing finance for new ideas
• Attract new customers
• Realise the difference between employment and enterprise
• Source alternative business ideas should the original idea not be opportune
• Evaluate the merits of a start-up versus a franchise opportunity.
