This course gives participants an understanding of key skills required for written communication in a time of great change in communication.

It gives clear guidelines for writing: responses, letters, notes, emails and all forms of written communication.

Course Outline:

Practical experience is discussed and any difficulties are identified.

Simple no-nonsense time-saving methods of writing are all considered.

The course is informal and informative; the better to discuss problems and to create a template for future communication.

Objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Review existing communications and messages sent
• Read communications from the recipient's viewpoint
• Choose clear simple words, sentences and paragraphs for clarity
• Create attention grabbing openings
• Build the main body of the message so it reads with logic and in sequence
• Avoid jargon and clichés while keeping matters businesslike and professional
• Adopt a polite, friendly, accommodating, style
• Consider whether the overall image is helped by existing communications
• Assemble a corporate communications image that speaks for itself
• Maximize return on letters sent out
• Benchmark the business against competitors
• Assess future communications developments
